Revving Towards Victory: Kostecki’s Historic Win with Dick Johnson Racing in Supercars Townsville

Brodie Kostecki led Dick Johnson Racing to victory in the Supercars opener at Townsville, ending a two-year winless streak for the team. Kostecki, securing his 16th career pole, successfully held off Cam Waters from Tickford Racing throughout the race. Despite Waters’ pursuit and a strong pitstop reducing the gap, Kostecki maintained his lead to win by 4.31s. Kostecki, the 2023 Supercars champion, praised his team’s performance and race control skills.

Cam Waters acknowledged his lack of pace compared to Kostecki, citing issues with tyre life and overall car performance. Former DJR driver Anton De Pasquale claimed third place for Team 18, showcasing aggressive driving early on. The challenging day for Triple Eight drivers saw Feeney and Brown fighting to regain positions after starting outside the top 10 in the race. Matt Payne and Bryce Fullwood secured strong finishes, with Payne moving up to second in the standings.

With the next race scheduled for Saturday in Townsville, anticipation builds for another exciting Supercars event.
